Harting Black, from the heart of the South Downs National Park.
John, a Downland Shepherd of more than 40 years, developed his Harting blacks from 5 sheep that had been inbred and reverted back to a primitive state with natural instincts for survival.
Johns objective was to breed sheep with wonderful personalities and temperament. He continued cross breeding with a view to produce many different fine wool types.
They’ve now evolved to a breeding flock in excess of 200 with followers and young stock.
Johns present objective is to produce a variety of beautiful sheepskins that delight him beyond compare.
