The Artist

Torie is a self taught fibre artist residing in the South Downs National Park, UK. Specialising in hand dyed yarn, hand spun yarn and a wardrobe of woven wearable art pieces.

Since 2018, she has been absorbed by the ancient art of weaving and spinning in its many forms. The past several years, Torie has been working on a continued collaborative project with a local shepherd bringing awareness to the importance of local wool and supporting farmers. Since relocating in early 2025, she now lives within reach of the farm and is able to work closely with the shepherd and broaden her knowledge on wool fleece types and livestock management.

As of 2023, Torie's desire when weaving is to create wearable creations. Each one, unless stated otherwise by the customer, is fabricated using handspun yarn. The majority of the wool used is Harting Black, a rare breed sourced from the shepherd she works alongside. If other wool is used, Torie is always conscious to purchase fleece from known local suppliers or those on regenerative farms.

She shifted her attention from shawls to clothing after not being able to find the type of garments she desired to wear for herself. Since doing so, Torie has become immersed with the diverse varieties of clothing and accessories that can be created from woven cloth.

Feral Fibres is based around sustainability and ancestral heritage, combining ancient techniques with aspects of the modern world with each piece she creates embodying those qualities to the highest standard.

Much of Torie's inspiration comes from our ancient past, and sarcred sites around Britain and Ireland with a special interest in Folklore and forgotton traditions.

If you want to find Torie's work in person, you'll find her at Wonder Wool Wales in April 2026 and at other yarn shows throughout the year (TBA)
