Welcome back the OG wool at Feral Fibres, Ryeland!

Family friends of mine, Graham and Julie own a flock of 25 Ryeland sheep. Used primarily as hobby sheep maintaining the biodiversity of their land. Each year I have been able to help them out and collect the fleece, covering the cost of shearing.

This year I’m excited to introduce Ryeland Sliver to the shop.

A thick, lofty, versatile and butter soft fibre. This sliver is a dream to spin on either a wheel or drop spindle.

These teddy bear faced sheep are one of Englands oldest breeds, stretching back almost 800 years. Once a rare breed, they are bouncing back with a vengeance and I’m so thrilled to now have a selection of Sliver available for you to get your hands on.
